Chances are if you got a new windows computer you may have a version of Microsoft office which may not work with Windows 7.
So what to do when you can't open a microsoft word document your friend has sent you hum?
You could go to the store or online and pay 200 -400 dollars for the suite or you can
save yourself some money and use a free open source program called open office.
Its a free alternative to Microsoft's Office suite is Open Office. I tested a few files from Microsoft's Microsoft Word and its Powerpoint and it translates the files easily meaning you can open the file.
