My review on sites that pay you for your graphics or photography

If your in graphic design for a hobby or as a career its nice to make a little cash on what you do best right?

I know I do. Today I'm reviewing a site that pays you for just that. Lets talk about what is referred to as stock photography. Stock photography are photos people use on their power point presentations developed by a photographer(you that is).

The way this site works is you submit 8 of the best photos you have that are in high resolution format. This is real important before your photos are considered for their photo stocks.

Now lets talk about the best part getting paid. How it works is once your photos has been approved they will be placed within the websites stock photos. Make sure you label your photos with keywords that refer to that photo.

This way when people who are looking to download your photo will be able to purchase your photo. When someone downloads your photo you get a comission.

So lets say you have around 100 photos at .50 cents each and each day you get 4 to 5 percent to download your photos. You get around 2 to 3 dollars a day. I know thats not much but you multiply that times 30 days you get around 80 to 100 bucks as passive income.

Here is the site to get started. Shutterstock

Youtube capture plugin short tutorial. How to download the dam thing

I find myself sometimes wanting to watch my favorite youtube videos when I'm not plugged online. The problem is there had not been an easy way to do this until now.

Now I won't go to much into detail but if your a Mozilla firefox user then your in luck. If you don't have the mozilla firefox browser then I'd suggest you download it first
before going to the next step.

The plugin for firefox is called The Download helper. Its a free plugin that works with the Mozilla browser and pretty much works like this.

First you go to your youtube and find a video you want to download. (assuming you already downloaded the plugin)  If you notice on the top left of the video there is an icon that look like three little colored balls. Click that icon and then scroll to the download.

It will save your file in FLV format. FLV is the flash format so you will need to have a FLV player. You can go to download.com and do a search on flv players or
click here to take you to one I use. This FLV player is not fancy but does the job and plays your downloads.

Now you can view your videos locally.

Mac's Magic touch mouse.

I had the pleasure of trying out this new gizmo which MAC has released on its new wireless mouse called the Magic Touch. At first it was a little getting use to but once you get then hang of it, its a very easy to use and easy on the hand since there isn't a roller mechanism.

This new mouse was an adaptation from the Iphone's touch feature. Only time will tell what will be next in technology. Its pretty cool mouse but the price may be a little steep. 69.00.

Give it a few months and the price will come down some.

Saving your bookmarks online plugin for Firefox and Internet Explorer

About a month ago I had to do a full recovery on my computer. It was the hardest thing to do since I had a lot of creative drawings, photos, video tutorials ect. So needless to say my lesson was back up back up back up! And of course buy an external that backs up your stuff at night.(more on that on the next blog.)

Luckly I was able to recover my bookmarks which I use frequently by using this plugin called Xmarks which went by the name fox marks. If your a die hard Internet Explorer fan Xmarks has added the a IE compatable version of the plugin.

Anyway how this plugin works is you create a user and a password and it syncs(copies your favorites to their server) to what bookmarks you have and backs up your bookmarks on their server. The best part is your out of town on someone else's computer your able to login and view your bookmarks.

Check this out if lets say you had to do a reinstall you just go back and reinstall the xmarks plugin, login and update your bookmarks and its like you never lost them.

So now when you tell someone you found a cool website and you bookmarked it you can retrevie it online with no problems. I believe also you can share your bookmarks page for your friends to view as well so its a pretty cool favorites plugin.

So check it out Xmarks.com

How To build a successful blog

I found this video on Problogger. Tim Feriss talks about what are some steps to creating a successful blog in general. Its a really good video to watch and is about 50 mins long. So even if your not watching the video you can listen while you work on your other graphic design work.

So check out the video. I will be posting more sometime next week on how to use movie maker.

Company logos interesting article.

If you kept up with the logos such as the apple logo and the IBM logo they have come a long way.

Branding is everything in the eyes of your consumers and many companies today have shed their old logo with a fresh look. I would have to say that the new apple logo is a big improvement with its relations to the products they release.

You can read more about make overs with logos from blue chip companies right here.

Whats in a new logo.
